Meet our Riding Director!

Riding Director at Camp Friendship

Skye Ackenbom, daughter of owner/founder Chuck Ackenbom, grew up in the Camp Friendship equestrian program.  As a junior competitor Skye rode to many championships at the local, state, regional and rated levels.  Skye finds running the equestrian program at Camp Friendship the perfect opportunity to combine her love of horses with her love for working with children.

Equestrian Riding Lessons at Friendship Stables

Camp Friendship is proud to offer Equestrian Riding Lessons starting this Fall at the Friendship Stables.  The Equestrian center is open year round for riding lessons, available to groups and private lessons.  Friendship Stables at Camp Friendship  houses over 90 horses and ponies with three outdoor and one indoor ring, and a show ring which hosts a show series each year.

The Friendship Stables Equestrian lessons have been developed to provide a fun, safe experience with horses for those interested in refining their skills in the many phases of horsemanship. We enrich each students ability, knowledge and enjoyment of horses through a safe and structured sequence of experiences progressing from fundamentals to the finer points of hunt-seat equitation.

Equestrian Riding Lessons

Our horseback riding lessons are starting this September 2009, and will be running throughout the year.  Our highly qualified instructors will be teaching a variety of lessons on the fundamentals of equitation, as well as riding on our many rings and trails with our students.  Lessons start at $35 per hour per student and run Monday through Friday.

For more information on groups and private lesson or if you are ready to jump on the saddle, please call Friendship Stables at 434.589.3878 or email Skye at stables@campfriendship.com
